Welcome to the 2025 Oxxford Hunt Swampfoxx summer swim team season. Each week you’ll receive a summary email communication for the week. These will typically come on Mondays.

COACH'S CORNER:

• Head Coach: Hey Swampfoxxes! I am Coach Allie and I am so excited for this upcoming season! I have been a Swampfoxx since I was 4 years old and I just finished my freshman year at UNC. I am thrilled to be leading us through a season full of support, fun, and goal-making. I am always available for questions from parents or swimmers so feel free to reach out at [email protected]. • 6 and Under Coach: Hello Swampfoxx Parents! My name is Coach Sophia, and as many of you know I am the head coach for the 6 and unders. This is my third year as a head coach and my fourth year coaching. For any new parents joining the team, I am a junior in high school and this is my 14th year swimming with Oxxford Hunt. This first week of practice will consist of a lot of fun activities and basic skills to let the swimmers get to know each other. Please make sure to bring an extra towel this week if we are in the water because it can get cold, especially for the younger swimmers. I can’t wait to see all of the new and returning swimmers and I am hoping for a great season! Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns at [email protected]!

START OF SEASON DETAILS

• Swim team Kickoff event will take place Monday May 12 from 5-7p at the Oxxford Hunt Clubhouse. We are monitoring the weather and will update this afternoon if there are any changes. Each swimmer will meet their coaches and do some fun activities while the parents receive information about the season and meet with their volunteer committees. Please have swimmers bring “dry land” practice gear - including sneakers and sports attire. At the Kickoff event, you can learn about the volunteer committees in advance by checking out this resource on our website. All swimmers are invited, including Swamp pups and their families. Sandwiches will be provided. Last year’s performance shirt will be ON SALE at the kick off with most youth and adult sizes available first come first served. Venmo or exact cash accepted for payment.
  • NOTE: Practice on Tuesday May 13, will also be on dry land and not in the water. Swimmers can come to the 5-6p or 6-7p practice in sneakers and sports attire.
• Practices in the water start Wednesday May 14, weather permitting, and continue weekdays (M-F) from 5-6p and 6-7p. Swimmers can come to either practice, but it would help the coaches if the swimmer sticks to one of the two practice times. Swimmers are encouraged to come to daily practices, but please keep them home if they are not feeling well.
• The pool can be cold the first few weeks, so please be sure your swimmers have extra towels and/or sweatshirts for when they finish. And please have your swimmer come prepared with sneakers as well, in case they have to do some running these first few weeks.
• Swamp Pups don’t begin practicing until June 2nd.
• Practice cancellations or delays are sent through the Swimtopia App. The app is free for basic needs (like communication) in the App Store and via Google Play. A paid subscription provides more features such as timely results of swim meets and can be set up for just 2 months of meets. Be sure to log in with the e-mail address used for registering for the Swampfoxxes to ensure you are linked to our team.
• Registration for the swim team remains open through May 31st, a free swim team shirt will be included for registrations completed before May 15th.
• Swim suits are available at Kiefer Aquatics, located in the Harris Teeter plaza at Maynard and High House Rd. Team suits are not required, but we ask swimmers to wear black or red for meets if possible. When you go to Kiefer Aquatics, you just tell them you are on the Oxxford Hunt Swampfoxxes and they will show you the team suits. Children can try it on in the store.
