Week 8 Swim Team News (July 1-7)
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK: Our swimmers of the week are: Lee Lowther and Maggie Lowther. Lee is eager to do well at practice and at meets. Maggie always listens at practice and cheers on her teammates during swim meets! Swimmers of the week receive a gift card in recognition for their hard work.
COACH'S CORNER:
- Coach Audrey: Hello families! We've been focusing on underwater dolphin kicks and starts during practice this week. If our swimmers can remember and apply everything we've worked on, I'm confident we'll see some best times at our next meet! If you need anything or have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected]. Additionally, I am still available for private swim lessons if your swimmer would like to work on specific skills one-on-one. You can reach me at (585) 943-3322.
- Coach Sophia: Hello parents! This past week we worked on freestyle technique and a little bit of breaststroke. I am happy to say at the last meet we had significantly less DQs and made a lot of progress swimming. This next week we will continue to work on technique before we start to work on stamina. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns at [email protected]!
- Swamp Pups: Hello parents! This past week we were able to introduce freestyle arms. Many of the kids are catching on quickly and I am happy with the progress everyone is making. Now that we are adding arms, it is really important for the kids to be comfortable with putting their faces in the water, so any work that can be done outside of practice would be really appreciated. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns at [email protected]!
NEXT MEET! Our next meet is Tuesday July 2 and we are at HOME! The Meet Theme is: Red, White, and Blue
- Arrive at 4:45pm to get settled, swimmers numbered and meet volunteers sign in (even if you are 2nd shift). Warmups will begin at 5:00pm sharp. Meet will start no later than 6p
- Swim meet officials meeting at 5:45pm outside of pool entrance
- Please walk or carpool to save parking spaces for our guests. Consider parking on Trappers Run to leave Fallsworth and parking lot for the other team
- Please remember that OXH pool rules apply during swim meets. The pool is CLOSED except to swim meet events, which means no one should be in the deep end or the shallow end.
Food and concessions: On meet day we offer special food items in addition to what is normally sold in concessions
| Concession | Price | Meal Deal - Includes chips & drink |
| Pizza by the slice (Dominos) | $3.50 | $5.00 |
| Chick-fil-A sandwich | $6.00 | $7.50 |
| Smoothie (Smoothie King) | $5.00 |
- If your swimmer’s status has changed (especially if they planned to swim and no longer can), please let us know ASAP. Coach Audrey ([email protected]) and Coach Sophia ([email protected]) need to adjust the heat sheets and having as much time as possible to do that is very helpful. You can copy the board ([email protected]) so that we can try to get heat sheets updated before they are printed. We understand kids can get sick at any point and sometimes meets can be overwhelming, so please just communicate with a coach if you need to leave, or your swimmer can no longer participate in event(s) planned.
MEET VOLUNTEERS: We ask that if you have a swimmer competing, at least one parent plans to volunteer at each swim meet. We want all families to do their part to help, and we have more jobs to fill when we are the ‘home team’. We are still in need of a meet administrator, announcer and a 2nd shift concession worker for tomorrow's meet. If you have a swimmer competing, please sign up for a volunteer position. Contact Katie Richards ([email protected]) if you need to change your volunteer position or have any questions.
JULY 4TH PARTY: We’ll be having our annual 4th of July party on Thursday July 4 from 12-4pm. The SwampShack will be open throughout the event. We'll have a DJ from 12-2pm and fun pool games starting at 1pm. Sign ups are available for food donations and volunteer positions on the website https://oxxfordhunt.swimtopia.com/swim_meets. We are still in need of a volunteers to help set up, work in concessions and as a cashier from 2-3p. We also need donations of pulled port, baked goods, sliced watermelon, and coleslaw. We’ll need your help to make it a success! We look forward to seeing you there!

PLEASE CHECK THE TEAM COMMUNICATIONS BOX!: Ribbons from swim meets are all in the black Team Communications Box. The Box lives in the Swamp Shack and can sometimes be found on the pool deck during practices. Parents should try to check the box at least once a week during the swim season. Thank you!
MEET RESULTS: You can find the meet results in the Swimtopia app, and a PDF report is also available on our website, under past events.
LIVE ACTION PHOTOS AND FACEBOOK PAGE: You’ve probably seen the wonderfully talented Elena Movchan (Adam and Anastasia’s mom) taking photos at meets. The link to her photos is on the team website and can be found directly here https://evm-photo.com/swampfoxxes-2024. Please be sure to credit Elena and her business when using photos.
MARK SWIMMER AVAILABILITY: It is important for all swimmers to declare their attendance for meets (select meet entry for each meet online). This should always be done at least one week prior to a meet so the coaches can properly plan the heat sheets and minimize changes. Please mark your swimmer for the Tuesday 7/9 meet by this Tuesday 7/2. Attendance will close on Friday 7/5.
TEAM SHIRTS & SWIM CAPS: Each swimmer receives a team shirt and swim cap included in their registration. Team shirts have been distributed over the last 2 weeks during practices, see Katie Herndon for pick up if you haven’t yet received yours. If you have a little swimmer that has requested an XS shirt and hasn’t yet received it, please be patient as we have had to order additional shirts due to late registrants that weren’t in the initial order count. All swim caps should have been picked up by now. Additional caps are available for purchase on our website and in the Swamp Shack. Extra 2024 team shirts are now available for sale on our website under merchandise.
OTHER TEAM MERCH FOR SALE: Custom Swampfoxx Swag is available through our Team Store on SwimOutlet. We have items with last year’s logo and this year’s logo available. If you don’t see a customized item you want, please reach out to Katie Herndon, she’d be happy to add any item that’s available for customization on SwimOutlet. Please note that items purchased through this site will be shipped directly to you and may take 1-2 weeks to receive due to the extra time needed for customization.
MORNING PRACTICES are available 9-10a daily except Wednesdays after Tuesday evening meets.
Please let us know what questions you may have or use other parents as a resource, either in person at the practice or via our FB parents forum!
