Week 10 Swim Team Updates
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK:
Our swimmers of the week are: Taylor Weiner and Lee Lowther! Congratulations to these swimmers for the hard work and motivation they showed this week and into our meet weekend!
TEAM RECORDS: Congratulations to the 7-8 Boys 100 Medley Relay team (Lee Lowther, Roland Pelc, Zachary Gorni, Lucas Espinoza) for breaking the team record at Tuesday’s meeting against Bella Casa with a time of 1:36.25.
CARY CITY MEET: What an amazing, fun, hot and successful day on Saturday at the Cary City Meet! Oxxford Hunt swimmers, coaches and parents went all out and it resulted in an 11th place finish of 25 teams AND Spirit Award winners! Races were won, relay records were broken and personal bests for many swimmers. You can view final results here: https://caryswimclub.org/cary-city-swim-meet-20/. We will hear more detailed results at the banquet on Friday! Photos are being collected and shared in this Google Drive folder.
Huge shout out to Dave Delcambre for the labor of love in creating the huge box displays, Krusty Krab sign and arch, Carla Delcambre for all the design ideas and getting us all organized (helping Dave perhaps as well!), Clay Delcambre for the T-shirt design, Jeannette Selvaggi for the creative flags with coding, pool noodle sea flooring and other artistic features, Debbie Lowther for the awesome Bikini Bottom life ring, coaches and kids who made the awesome hanging jellyfish at practice, Dana Cassell for the bubble machine, Coaches Sophia, Clare, Ammie, and Lilly for leading the kids in the dancing and singing, and all the parents and kids who came out and made the day memorable!! I'm sure there were others who went unnoticed in their contributions to the day. We thank Liz Miller for her leadership in organizing Cary City Meet this year!
COACH'S CORNER:
- Coach Hope: Hello parents! Thank you for another great week! Our swimmers did so well this past Tuesday and those who went to Cary City! We had some very impressive personal bests at both meets. I just want to take a minute to thank the parents and the swimmers for making Cary City such a huge success for us all! This week will be the last couple of practices for the session. We will continue to focus on polishing the same details in our race in preparation for Tuesday’s meet. Thank you for another great week!
- Coach Sophia: Hello everyone! It has been another great week! I’m so proud of the swimmers that swam on Tuesday and at Cary City. There was a lot of team spirit at both events! We will be wrapping up the season this week with our last practices on Monday and Tuesday. Monday will also be our last swamp pup practice for the year. Additionally, the swamp pups will be able to compete in an exhibition event this Tuesday, so if you plan to be there make sure to let me know in advance! I plan to continue working on technique this week to prepare for our last meet. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns!

FACEBOOK PAGE: Just a reminder to families that the Oxxford Hunt Swim Team also shares content on our team Facebook page. We try to also share with the Swampfoxxes Parent’s Forum so you all can stay on top of what’s happening. The forum is a place for parents to connect with each other. We recommend joining both if you can. Pictures and videos from yesterday’s Cary City Meet on the Oxxford Hunt Swim Team page will show you our Spirit!
PLEASE CHECK THE TEAM COMMUNICATIONS BOX! Ribbons from swim meets along with swimmer team shirts and swim caps that have not been picked up, and Kona Ice Vouchers for swimmers who were not at the pool on 6/30, are all in the black Team Communications Box. The Box lives in the Swamp Shack and can sometimes be found on the pool deck during practices. Parents should try to check the box at least once a week during the swim season. Thank you!
VOLUNTEER COMMITTEES: Belated thanks to our July 4th Pool Party Committee for putting together a fun and successful day. There was a great turn out and the food was a big hit. Thanks to all who donated their time and/or their contributions to the food menu! We couldn’t do it without you! Also a thanks to our Social Committee for putting together some fun end of season ideas and to the Board for donating Kona Ice and Smoothie King smoothies to the team! Finally a HUGE thanks to our Cary City Committee for their incredible effort and creativity in putting together the SpongeBob themed tent this year. Way to go!
