COACH'S CORNER:

  • Coach Hope: Hello Parents! Another great week in the books. Unfortunately, this was a short week with the holiday and the weather, but we’re going to get back to it this week. Hopefully with the weather holding out we’ll be able to get in some solid practices here nearing the end of the season. We’re going to continue to have some endurance work to strengthen the end of the night races. Additionally, our swimmers competing this weekend will be doing some extra work in preparation for Cary City. I’m so proud of our undefeated swimmers so far, let's keep the streak going. Thank you for another great week!
  • Coach Sophia: Hello everyone! This past week has been a little crazy with the 4th and weather problems but I am happy to say that we did come away with another win on Wednesday making us 4-0 now. As we near the end of the season I plan to start focusing more on really making sure that everyone has a solid understanding of all of the strokes. Additionally, I have already started incorporating full length laps for swimmers that will be participating at Cary City this Saturday so they feel comfortable at the meet. This week we will be going back to our normal practice schedule and swamp pups will be back to Mondays and Wednesdays. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns!

MEET THEME: The meet theme for this week is: Christmas in July! Wear your most jolly outfit to celebrate this holiday a little earlier in the year!!

AWAY MEET: Tuesday July 11 against the Bella Casa Barracudas. Address is 2700 Evans Road, Apex (about 15 min from OXH). Reminders:

  • Arrive by 5:15p to get settled and numbered, warmups begin at 5:30p, meet starts at 6p. Swim meet officials meeting at 5:45pm outside of pool entrance
  • Swimmers should wear their team suit, swim cap (OXH or plain), and goggles.
  • The pool is located on the corner of Evans Road and Milano Avenue. The parking lot is small and street parking will be necessary. Please be sure to park on the side of the road with sidewalks on Milano Avenue or Lazio Lane. Do not park on Evans Road.
  • There is a private property located just next to the community pool that allows overflow parking in their field for a fee of $5.00. This money is collected by one of our volunteers, but it is then given to the private family who is not a member of the Bella Casa community. They ask that no one parks in their lot if it has rained within 24 hours of our meet to keep their land free of tire damage.
  • Visitors are encouraged to bring a folding chair and/or a tent. They have a small and sunny pool deck so stage all families outside of the fence by the playground and field above the pool. We post and announce each event so that families can enter the pool deck to cheer on their swimmers for their individual events.
  • Our team can set up on the 4-Square court near the playground as well as on the deck near the fence close to Evans Road.
  • Pizza, snacks, and Sunset Slushies are for sale inside the clubhouse. Cash and Venmo accepted.

MEET VOLUNTEERS: We ask that one parent plan to volunteer at each home swim meet. We want all families to do their part to help. There is a wide variety of jobs to fit the needs of most families. The job sign up page is on the Swimtopia website: https://oxxfordhunt.swimtopia.com/swim_meets. Contact Diane Johnson ([email protected]) if you need to make changes to your job.

MARK SWIMMER AVAILABILITY: Please mark your swimmer for the final meet meet (7/18) by Tuesday 7/11. Attendance will close on Friday 7/14.

CARY CITY MEET: The 40th annual Cary City Invitational Meet will be on Saturday July 15th at Cary Swim Club (rain date Sunday 7/16). Liz sent out emails this morning with the heat sheets and relay details. Please double check that your swimmer is entered correctly.

Thanks to all the swimmers who made paper plate jellyfish on Friday! Decorations are coming together and we know our Spongebob theme is going to be a big hit.

TEAM BLOOD DRIVE: The Oxxford Hunt Swampfoxxes are proud to continue coordinating the Oxxford Hunt community blood drives! Every successful donor will receive a $40 e-gift card and the swim team receives a $20 donation for each blood donor. PLEASE CHECK THE TEAM COMMUNICATIONS BOX: Ribbons from swim meets along with swimmer team shirts and swim caps that have not been picked up, and Kona Ice Vouchers for swimmers who were not at the pool on 6/30, are all in the black Team Communications Box. The Box lives in the Swamp Shack and can sometimes be found on the pool deck during practices. Parents should try to check the box at least once a week during the swim season. Thank you!
