Week 9 Updates
COACHES CORNER AND SWIMMER OF THE WEEK:
- Coach Hope: Hello everyone! This was a great past week! We are very busy coming into the end of our season! I am so proud of everyone for working so hard in practice, and putting that effort into swimming fast at meets. Seeing everyone race with all the other teams at Cary City was so fun!! This was my first Cary City meet as a head coach, and I’d like to thank everyone for making it such a memorable experience. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. Going into this next week, we have our final meet of the season. We are away at Lifetime Fitness Cary. I know everyone is going to do fantastic and keep up the great work. Thank you all for another great week!!
- Coach Mary: Hello everyone! This was an amazing past week, we had our Cary City meet on Saturday. Everyone did so well and I’m so proud of those who swam. This is a busy week as we come to the end of our season. I am very proud of how far everyone has come so far! Everyone has been practicing hard and improving each day. We have our last meet of the season on Tuesday and I really encourage everyone to participate if you can. We will be away at Lifetime Fitness Cary. I look forward to seeing everyone at practice Monday!
- Swimmers of the week: Hazel Johnson and Ian Lowther for continuing to push themselves through the end of our season!
FINAL PRACTICE: The last practice of the season will be Tuesday morning. Swamp Pups will have their last practice on Wednesday.
CARY CITY UPDATES: WOW what a fun day at Cary City yesterday. We danced, we sang, and we swam! If you haven’t been to Cary City yet, you should definitely try to make it next year! Thanks to all the volunteers for their help planning, decorating, and making this a spectacularly fun time for our hard-working Swampfoxxes. Our very own Benjamin Eischeid took home the 2nd place point WINNER trophy! Congratulations Benjamin, well done! Overall, Oxxford Hunt placed 12th in the meet, with 550 points! Within the teams that had between 30 - 40 swimmers, we were SECOND PLACE!! Good job, Swampfoxxes - definitely something to be proud of. If you have not yet paid for your Cary City Meet t-shirts, please go to the Square site to pay.
FINAL MEET: Tuesday July 19 at LifeTime Cary (1700 Regency Pkwy, Cary, NC 27518)
- LifeTime is no longer able to operate meets at night. In order to complete the meet as quickly as possible (before dark) we have agreed to limiting 7 and Up to 3 strokes and 6 and Under to 2 strokes. Also if we do happen to go a bit later there is an option to move to their smaller indoor competition pool. In that case events will only be 4 lanes.
- Arrive by 5:15pm, warmups begin at 5:30p and the meet starts at 6p.
- Club has a snack bar with sandwiches, wraps, chicken strips, smoothies, veggie chips, pizzas, drinks. Outside food is not technically allowed, but they said we could bring it, just don’t advertise it :)
- Parking is available at the gym. Overflow parking behind the gym.
- Come in the front door, you will need to walk through the family locker room to enter the outdoor pool.
- Waivers will need to be signed at the front desk.
- No hard coolers are allowed.
MEET VOLUNTEERS: We still have a few jobs that need parent volunteers on Tuesday. These include Clerk of Course, 7-14 kid pusher, land timer, place judge and scorer for 2nd shift, and a lane timer and scorer for first shift. Please sign up for a parent job for Tuesday’s meet if you haven’t already: https://oxxfordhunt.swimtopia.com/swim_meets. Contact Diane Johnson ([email protected]) if you need to make changes to your job.
BANQUET: LET’S TACO ‘BOUT CELEBRATING OUR SWIM SEASON! It’s hard to believe we are down to the final week of the season! Please join the team on Thursday July 21 from 6pm - 8pm for the annual swim team banquet at Ritter Park. Moe’s Southwest Grill will be catering the event. Food, drinks, and desserts will be available. The cost is $12.00 per person, and free for anyone ages 3 and under. Payment can be made online or a check can be given to a swim board parent at practice. Please RSVP on the website (under Meets & Events → Signup Calendar) by July 18 to indicate if you will be attending.
TEAM PHOTOS: Our team photos have arrived! If you ordered a photo package, you can pick up the packet in the parent box at practice Monday or Tuesday morning.
