Week 8 Updates

COACHES CORNER AND SWIMMER OF THE WEEK:

  • Coach Hope: Hello Everyone! This was a great past week!! We competed in our fourth regular season meet, and won a swim up in division! I am so proud of all of our swimmers for putting their best foot forward getting us our second win of the season! Additionally, this past Saturday our coaches hosted our final clinic of the season. We worked on improving power and ability in the three kinds of starts. Going into this next week, it will be quite busy. On Tuesday, we will have our last home meet of the season! On Saturday, we will be competing in Cary City! Even if you have not signed up to swim it is always so much fun to attend as a cheerleader and cheer on your teammates!! Thank you all for another great week!!
  • Coach Mary: Hi 6&U Parents, It’s been another great week of practice! As we prepare for the meet on Tuesday we will continue to focus on our breaststroke and our starts/finishes. The Cary City meet is this Saturday, I’m so excited!! If your swimmer has signed up to swim at Cary City, please continue to check for emails with information. Even if your swimmer isn’t swimming this year, I recommend everyone dressing up and coming to support the team! Cary City is so much fun and this way the kids can get an idea of what its like since it has been awhile since we had one. Pup parents, we will be having our pups exhibition this week! This is the time for your pup to show off all their hard practice and get a feel of how a swim meet is ran. They will swim a 15 yd freestyle and we will have kid catchers in the water with them. Please arrive with your pups by 6:00. If your swimmer would like to participate, and you haven’t already, please send me an email! I’m looking forward to another great week. I will see everyone at practice on Monday, go Swampfoxxes!!
  • Swimmers of the week: Connor Derby and Brigid Richards for continuing to push themselves out of their comfort zones to become better swimmers!
  • Tuesday's Meet Theme: Under the Sea!!

EXCITING UPDATES AND RECORDS FROM WEEK’S MEET: We won a nail-biter this week against Brookstone. The final score was 252-248! Thanks to all the parents for helping out and being flexible as we moved to heat 1 only events to get butterfly and freestyle relays in before the storm came. We also had two team records broken at the meet. Elliot Mapes broke a new Boys 6 and Under Breaststroke record with a time of 0:16.44 and Avery Delcambre broke a Boys 15-18 Breaststroke record with a time of 0:29.84.
